SPANISH INVESTIGATION PROPOSALS AT TOP RESEARCH AREAS

The first call for proposals for the Advanced Investigators Grants Program (AdG) directed by the European Research Council (ERC) within the VII Framework European Programme has successfully been concluded and the results have been positive for Spanish researchers. In fact, Spain has obtained funding aid for 13 research projects; either for Spanish researchers (8) or for foreign researchers who will perform their projects at Spanish institutions (5); 2 for German investigators, 1 for an American and 1 for a Polish investigator.

The 13 awarded proposals are distributed into the following domains: 1 belongs to Physical Sciences and Engineering, 5 belong to Social Sciences and Humanities, 5 to Life Sciences and 2 are within the Interdisciplinary Research domain.

The Advanced Investigators Grants are mainly targeted to established research leaders and their aim is to support projects of excellence at research fields within the frontiers of knowledge, led by outstanding renowned researchers in any E.U. state or associated country.
